Jill Baumgartner is an Associate Professor and William Dawson Scholar in the Departments of Epidemiology, Biostatistics & Occupational Health and Equity, Ethics and Policy at McGill. Her research investigates the links between the climate change, environment, and health, with specific interest in solid fuel air pollution and environmental policy evaluation. Through interdisciplinary and global collaborations, her group has conducted environmental monitoring and epidemiological studies throughout the world. Her research has been covered by major media outlets including the New York Times, NPR, CBC, and The Guardian, and she serves on multiple advisory committees for the World Health Organization and Project Drawdown. She holds a joint-Ph.D. in Population Health Science and Environment & Resources from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Masters in Population Health from Harvard University.
Emmanuelle Batisse is a PhD Candidate in Epidemiology at McGill University with research interests in environmental inequities and environmental determinants of health among vulnerable populations. She holds an BSc in Biology and an MSc in Environmental Health, both from the University of Montreal, in Quebec Canada. Emmanuelle’s doctoral thesis will focus on understanding inequities in exposure to ultrafine particles in Montreal and Toronto, Canada, and their health effects throughout the life course. Her research is supported by a FRQS doctoral award. List of publications on Google Scholar can be found here and her professional profile can be found on LinkedIn.
Enkhuun Byambadorj is a research associate and Co-Founder and the Operations Lead at Breathe Mongolia – Clean Air Coalition, a nonprofit working to end Mongolia’s air pollution crisis. She holds a bachelor’s degree from McGill University in Environment and International Development, where one of her honour’s theses examined household thermal comfort under an energy transition program in China. Her professional profile can be found on LinkedIn.
Siobhan Carroll is a PhD student in Epidemiology at McGill University with research interests in environmental determinants of respiratory health. Her current research examines the effects of ambient and household air pollution on tuberculosis incidence and treatment outcomes. She holds a BSc in Biological Sciences and Statistics and a Research Certificate in Biological Sciences from the University of Alberta
Aïché Danioko is a final year student in the Honours B.A. program in Ecological Determinants of Health. She is primarily advised by Dr. Alissa Koski along with Dr. Baumgartner and Anna Palmer to investigate the relationship between extreme weather events and climate change.
David Galiano (he\him) is a MSc candidate in Epidemiology and 3rd year resident in Public Health and Preventative Medicine at McGill University. He completed medical school and family medicine residency at McGill, after which he worked as a family physician in various settings in Canada. His thesis will focus on the impact of temperature exposures on child mental health in Accra, Ghana. His clinical interests include addictions, indigenous health, mental health, and climate change impacts on public health.
Anna Palmer is a PhD Candidate in Epidemiology at McGill University. Her research interests revolve around the relationship between climate change, health, and social inequities. Anna’s doctoral research examines the relationship between climate change and child marriage in over 100 countries. She holds an undergraduate degree in Biomedicine from the University of Melbourne, and a master’s degree in Mathematics from the Australian National University. She is a recipient of Lloyd-Carr Harris Fellowship.
